Importing existing packages

You can import existing PSADT v3 or v4 packages from .zip files.

1. On the Packages Workspace, click Import Local.
2. Drop one or more .zip files into the panel, or click to browse for them.
3. The wizard processes each file and shows the result.

For each package the wizard does the following:

• detects whether it is v3 (Deploy-Application.ps1) or v4 (Invoke-AppDeployToolkit.ps1)
• reads the application details and custom parameters
• reads the Pre / Main / Post code of every phase
• copies the Files folder into the new package
• adds the package to your workspace. The Free edition limit of 10 packages applies.

v3 packages are translated to v4 automatically, including commands, variables and parameters. Where one v3 command maps to several v4 commands, a # TODO comment marks the spot for you to check.

After the import, review the package in the wizard as usual.
